Terms of Service

1. Agreement
These Terms govern your use of Semestree (the “Service”), operated by NUHYLabs Inc.. By creating an account or using the Service you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. The Service
Semestree organizes uploaded syllabi and course materials and provides study aids such as summaries, quizzes, flashcards, and an AI tutor. AI-generated output is for reference only and is not guaranteed to be accurate.
3. Accounts
You must provide accurate information and are responsible for your account and password. Do not use another person’s account. You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service; if you are under 18, you may use it only with a parent or guardian’s permission.
4. Your responsibilities
Upload only material you have the lawful right to use. Do not infringe copyright or privacy, use the Service unlawfully, or interfere with its operation (for example, excessive automated requests).
5. Your content
You keep all rights to the material you upload. We use it only as needed to run the Service — storing it, organizing it, and processing it to generate study aids.
6. Paid plans and billing
Semestree offers a free plan and paid plans (Plus, Pro). Prices, included features, and billing periods are listed on the pricing page in US dollars. Prices do not include any sales tax that may apply.
You choose a billing period, and how it renews depends on which one you pick:
- Monthly (1 month) — a recurring subscription. PayPal charges your payment method every month until you cancel. You can cancel anytime in Settings → Subscription, or from your PayPal account, and you keep access through the period you have already paid for.
- Term pass — a one-time payment that runs until the end of the current term: December 31 for fall, May 31 for spring. The price is the same on any purchase date, so buying earlier in the term covers more days. We show the expiry date and the number of days you get before you pay. This pass is sold at the start of each term only — August to mid-September for fall, January to mid-February for spring — and it does not renew automatically.
- Academic year pass — a one-time payment that runs until August 31, the end of the current academic year, whenever you buy it. The price is the same on any purchase date, so buying earlier in the year covers more months. We show the expiry date and the number of months you get before you pay. This pass is sold from August through October only, and it does not renew automatically.
Payments are handled by PayPal; you can pay with your PayPal balance or a card saved in PayPal, and we never receive or store your card number.
If prices or included features change, we will notify you in the Service or by email at least 30 days before the change takes effect. You may cancel if you do not agree to the change.
Founding price. The Pro price shown at sign-up is a launch price that will increase on the date stated on the pricing page. If you subscribe at the launch price, that price is locked for as long as your subscription stays active — later increases do not apply to you, and changing between monthly, per-term, and the academic year pass keeps it. The locked price ends if you switch plans (for example Plus to Pro), or if your subscription lapses for more than 30 days; after that, the current price applies.
7. Cancellation and refunds
You can cancel anytime under Settings > Subscription. You will not be charged again and you keep access through the period you already paid for. Refund eligibility and how to request one are set out in the Cancellation & Refund Policy.
8. Beta service and accuracy
The Service is currently provided as a beta. Automatic parsing of syllabi and course materials, the schedules and courses it extracts, and all AI-generated output are not guaranteed to be accurate, complete, or current, and may differ from your actual course. Parsing accuracy in particular varies with document format, image quality, and language.
Do not rely on the Service’s output for academic decisions without checking it against the original syllabus and your instructor’s guidance. We are not responsible for missed deadlines, exams, or other academic consequences arising from parsing errors, omissions, or incorrect schedules or summaries.
During the beta, features may change or be discontinued and data may be lost. By using the Service you accept these characteristics of a beta product.
9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. We are not liable for events beyond our reasonable control, for your own misuse, or for outages of third-party providers we depend on. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.
10. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these Terms, and will tell you why unless doing so would be unlawful.
11. Changes to these Terms
We post the effective date and a summary of material changes in the Service. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms. Questions: mj@nuhylabs.com
12. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, where NUHYLabs Inc. is incorporated, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Nothing here limits any right you have under the mandatory consumer-protection law of the place you live. Please contact us first — most issues are resolved that way.
